Enterprise Charlotte is the community economic development agency for Charlotte County. As the lead agency for economic development and business support, Enterprise Charlotte coordinates partnerships with various levels of government, the community stakeholders and business.

The primary roles of Enterprise Charlotte are to create and implement a strategic action plan approved by the community through an advisory forum, develop and grow business, identify and coordinate job training and skills development, and provide leadership to move the community forward.

Enterprise Charlotte will be recognized as a leader by providing the platform for community collaboration to support future infrastructure, create opportunities, and discover our untapped potentials throughout the county.

Provide leadership to ensure Charlotte County is a prosperous and outstanding place to live and work, by facilitating sustainable economic growth that respects our unique environment.

As part of the 15 agencies in the Enterprise Network, the organization works on community development from the ground up.

The Advisory Forum:
The Enterprise Charlotte Advisory Forum is the stakeholder group drawn from all parts of the community. Its task is to contribute to the development and implementation of a strategic plan for the region.

The Advisory Forum is made up of approximately 50 community representatives. It includes government leaders, such as members of Parliament, members of the Legislative Assembly, mayors, councilors and local service district presidents. And it also includes stakeholder groups, such as business organizations, community interest groups, service organizations and more.

The Forum meets at least once or twice each year to provide advice and feedback on the content, direction and results of the community economic plan.

Board of Directors:
The board of directors is made up of business leaders from the community that represent the diverse nature of the region in which it operates. The board is accountable to the agency's financial stakeholders - ACOA, the Province of New Brunswick and participating local municipalities.

An equal number of directors are appointed by the participating municipalities and the province from recommendations made by the funding partners. The president of the board of directors also serves as the chair of the Advisory Forum. Each board appointment is for three years.

The board does not run day-to-day operations of the agency. It is responsible for implementing governance and operating policies. Its primary role is to develop and implement a community economic development plan for its region, ensuring community input and participation through the Advisory Forum

Government Partners:
Enterprise Charlotte is supported by federal, provincial and municipal government agencies. They provide the framework, policy direction, support programs and funding for each of the 15 Enterprise agencies across New Brunswick. Our government funding partners include:

Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) is the federal government department responsible for helping build local economies in the Atlantic provinces by working with people in their communities, through their institutions and businesses to innovate, trade and add value in order to create jobs and enhance earned incomes. The Agency provides funding in support of commercial and non-commercial projects.

Business New Brunswick (BNB) is the lead provincial government department in economic development. It partners with stakeholders to develop opportunities for growth, innovation and globalization. BNB encourages investment, improvements of the competitiveness of New Brunswick companies and attracts new citizens to the province.

Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour (P-SETL) supports the Enterprise Network with regional labour market profiles, support of community and regional planning and workforce development. It also funds labour force development officers and programs identified by Enterprise agencies.
